I work at an automotive paint store, so I suppose I'm qualified to respond. We sell Glasurit, PPG, R-M, and Omni. We used to sell Dupont way back in the day but Dupont decided to stop supplying us (corperate chain called finishmasters moved in, they sell Dupont and Dupont didn't want us competing with them), so we switched our main line of paint to PPG.

Glasurit 55 line would look the best (with Glasurit clear) but it is very expensive. Over $600 a gallon for some colors (reds in particular).

I used PPG to paint my 190e, it looks great. However, there really is a difference between Glasurit and everything else out there... Glasurit just looks amazing in any color. PPG is great paint, don't get my wrong, but Glasurit is good stuff. However, the PPG paint costs about half the price of the Glasurit, and it still looks damned good.

Most of the shops we supply use PPG for production and custom work. Only the really high end shops use Glasurit.

Anyways, here is my car fresh after I painted it:

Are you spraying it yourself? I've sprayed both Glasurit and PPG and I've found PPG a bit easier to work with, especially metallics.

What color do you plan on going with?
