Hi! I have a second hand 2004 Chrysler PT Cruiser LTD with a Mercedes 2,2 liter CRD diesel, manual 5 -gear, with which I have a problem with excessive exhaust. The engine is 121 hp . The car has gone about 70,000 miles.

When cruising at any rpm (1700, 2000) and in any gear, after giving just a little more gas, my car omits a substantial cloud of dark brownish exhaust.

I have had the car checked at two local dealers. None of them were able to find anything faulty on their computers. They did however change a switch in connection with the brakes and also changed the mass air sensor. None of these things helped. I hope someone can give me a suggestion to what this might come from. Maybe somebody has experienced this in a Mercedes?
