We had one of those at work (a 2004 or 2005 model, maybe?). It was ridiculously huge. I think it got about 14mpg so we avoided using it as much as possible...
I put it into 4WD once and also couldn't get it back to 2WD. After reading the manual, it seemed that you needed to put it in park or neutral, keep the brake depressed, switch it to 2WD, and then accelerate above a certain speed before 4WD would disengage (or some combination of the above). It was very very very non-intuitive, and I had to try for 10 minutes to get it back to 2WD mode even after reading the manual. The process definitely involved driving it above a certain speed, which couldn't be attained in the parking lot I was in.
