Neutral before the diff or after? Sounds like you need to bump the fronts up a little. Mark the tires with lumber crayon.

Lowering the rear is not necessarily going to increase grip. If you do it indpendent of the front, you are going to change front to rear weight transfer. A better idea would be to stiffen roll resistance. Have you read Fred Puhn's How to Make Your Car Handle? If not, it's a must read.
