I put in a keyless entry/power lock kit on my car, and there's a wire coming out of the unit that provides 12 volts for flashing the parking lights when the car is locked or unlocked. The kit says th Mercedes parking light system is a split system and came with two diodes for isolating the two systems when you connect to both of them with a common wire...okay, makes sense to me.
So I found the two wires on the switch that are for the two halves of the parking lights system (turns out its the two positions of the rotary switch to the left of 'off' that turn on either the left or right blinkers, so I guess the blinkers will flash instead of the parking lights)...a gray wire and a gray/white wire. But when I jumper 12 volts to those wires, the lights don't come on. Is there something else going on in the switch that I don't understand?
Another thing confusing me, I see a heavy red wire and a decent sized black wire on two terminals that I assume are power and ground. I checked with the multimeter and I'm correct. However, when I turn on the parking lights, there is no longer +12v between hot and ground. Its like one of them moved...friggin electricity
Thanks for the help,
