Two possibilities.
1. Faulty Brakelight Switch. If it sticks ( in or out ) replace it. $ 20.00
2. Start the car and turn the steering wheel all the way to the left, hold for 3-4 seconds and then turn it all the way to the right and hold it for 3-4 seconds.
See what happens.
