Hey everyone. I found a curious device behind my glove box today, part no: 124 689 27 14 . As far as I can tell it is a spring to slow the opening of the glove box door. I can only assume that this mechanism has been broken since we bought the car since I always remember the door plopping open. The device itself looks like a pistol but instead of a barrel it has a thin plastic chain that (when not broken) connects to the right (when facing the front) glove box door retention mechanism (that keeps the door from opening past the horizontal.) Does anyone know where this device is supposed to be mounted? I have searched the area behind the glove compartment door but I can't find a suitable place to attach it. Thanks!
