Sometimes it takes much cranking to start after a period of non operating time, or even when I remove the fuel "rack". When I do a purge, using a temporary tank, as you described, I use the line just prior to the primary, clear, filter, when done replace all. What fuel line did you use in the Gatorade bottle?
