Not sure if yours is the same, but the late 124 chassis have cable/cam lock adjustment at the shift gate assem.
I have the instructions for E320 , [ which may be simular]if you would like .
Email me and I will scan what I have.

Or try a tranny shop that knows Benz. I'm sure they will know this adjuster.
