Day 2-
The jungle air is much more still and much hotter than I had expexted, even in the early morning.
The forest floor was crawling with life under my tent floor last night, and my mind has been shadowed by a sense of eyes upon me, desirous eyes, that wish me ill will. Uta says, in his broken english, that we will be at the river in another two days journey. I hope this is so, and that we gan get a breath of wind from it's bank.
The boots are working well but the sock situation is untenable... will have to make camp early tonight and regroup. Perhaps that will afford me a chance to get Uta to clarify the position of the river on my somewhat faulty map and work out the situation with the porters.
