A lot of times it isn't economical to get full coverage on these old cars. The insurance company will total the car pretty easily and you won't get your money back from several years of coverage.
To me it seems a challenging job, but you could always try finding one in a junkyard and pulling it yourself. Obviously need a pickup and some wood props. I can't see a junkyard charging very much for a windshield as it would be well used and pitted.
