local locksmith tweedled with it for a while... DOA... gonna have to drill it out...He recommended a carbide tipped concrete drill... Sounds crazy, but it just might work...

now all I have to do is order up the parts... will go for the properly keyed cylinder.. and get a factory key while I am at it... Aftermarket key I have (the only one I got with the car) is pretty worn..
