Follow doctors orders is my best advice.

However.........I've had arthroscopic surgery on both knees. Each time to remove a meniscus tear. The latest one was done by a sports oriented orthopaedic surgeon who's mantra is "let pain be your guide." With those orders, I walked out of the day hospital the day of surgery and ran a (slow) mile on day 7.
