Oh my god. I think I found the perfect college students job. What do you think?
I go to Ranken Tech in STL. Ive been working at McDonalds for 14 months or so now and since min wage went up again, Im back down to min wage again.
I was offered a job by my instructor doing maintenance for the electrical department. It pays $9 an hour and I can start working before and after my classes w/o having to drive anywhere. I think its possible to get 20-25 hours if it fits their budget.
But just today on the job listing board I noticed Annheiser Bush has something up saying they need part time workers for the weekends and on holidays. It pays $52.84 an hour w no benefits
It says you have to work atleast 2 weekends a month. (That means Id make atleast $1600/mo possibly, which is more than 3x what I make now)
If I work 16 hours a weekend every weekend, then that comes out to about $3200/mo not including taxes! Plus Annheiser also gives their employess so many free cases of beer free a month (not sure if this applies to part timers)
This is the perfect college students job!
Only problem is that I either havent learned a couple of the things the paper stated were requisites and a couple of them I learned last year so I need to brush up and do a crash course again (mainly electrical codes and regulations)
Anyone here ever do any hiring before? If I tell them I am willing to work any and all weekends and any holiday they want including Christmas and that Im willing and eager to learn anything they wanna show me, do you think I might have a chance if I apply? Im not the smartest kid from there, but I definitely would try the hardest out of all the others. If something interests me, I cant get enough of it
This also wouldnt be a bad company to settle down with and retire from if the opportunity should ever arise. Plus I dont do drugs and could easily pass a test.
Any thoughts or tips?
