Bro-man, I grew up in the Mormon Church, where folks rarely passed up an opportunity to reinforce the notion among each other that they were indeed worshipping in the only true church on the face of the earth. It dawned on me at some point that most all the other churches felt the same way about themselves. It was clear to me that all but a few (which few?) had to be wrong or in fact all were wrong.
A nearly identical phenomena is this notion that one's own country is the best, the greatest, bar none. It doesn't take much imagination to christen one's own land the greatest. Iranians will tell you that theirs is the greatest nation. Japanese will tell you that . . . . . . The French will tell you . . . . . . and so on ad nauseum.
