Wow...yours looks even worse than mine did! Mine was ripped but not completely torn off yet...and it vibrated quite a bit.

My "U-joint" section or whatever it is did have the "notches" in it when you move it back and forth in either direction, more so in one of the directions than the other.....but I just put it all back in, and it seems to be vibration free and fine.

I used Castrol wheel bearing grease when reassembling.....
