Of course it will have problems its an old car. I'd be more worried about that convertable top. I have no idea how they work on the W124 cab, but on the R129's of this vintage they are pretty complicated. When you hit that button a lot of stuff starts happening at once. I bet on a W124 cab fixing that top will cost a small fortune because they are so rare.
The drive train is the least of you worries, its all standard run of the mill W124 stuff. M104, etc, etc.
