Yeah you allmost remove the three mount bolts (ALLMOST not all the way, if you dont back them out enough the compressor will not move enough to get the belt off.) and then there is a 10mm adjuster bolt. you shouldnt have to take off the powersteering pump.

1981 240d (engine donor 1983 240d) recently rebuilt engine hurray! - No more.. fought a tree and the tree won.
pearl black 1983 240d 4speed (Converted!@$$%) atleast the tranny was rebuilt.
