I can still vividly recall the detached sense of being stunned and numb, watching the TV footage. I worked in a small downtown firm at that time, and I remember our President and CEO and VPs, etc. all crowded around our small TV room, their faces gaunt. As I walked into the room, my VP told me "a plane has crashed into the twin towers" and I saw the image of the tower, smoke billowing. Then a few seconds later, the second plane came. I'll never forget watching that live. Everyone was silent and grave, after it happened, we all just walked around like zombies, until eventually we were sent home. Some made calls to friend and relations in NY.

A horrid, tragic day.
