Can you post pics of what you have taken off so far?

It is a fsirly easy procedure once you remove the wood around the shifter then you need to remove the wood in the ashtray area. Remove the ashtray tray (it pops out) and remove the two screws on the very back. If you can, use a magnetized screwdriver to keep the two screws from popping loose.

The top console, where the A/C controls are, is next. There should be two screws at the base, right above the ashtray area. Remove the two screws.

The VERY GENTLY--VERY GENTLY--VERY GENTLY--(get the point?) pull the top portion away. The top portion is "hinged" at the corners on the top section. So pull from the bottom towards you but very gently.

Once you have the top wood out you can access the A/C buttons.

Install is just the reverse.

May I ask why you are removing the wood?

Take a look at this link. Scroll down past the speaker removal section and see how John removed the lower and middle wood (shifter console and ashtray).

Good luck.
