My veggie oil powered 1991 350SDL started leaking motor oil the other day and by the next day, it was spewing out like a hose. It seems my oil cooler line rusted through. When I tried to remove it, I easily pulled the fitting out of the bottom of the oil cooler and broke that too.
I just got a quote for $1000 to fix it! $700 for parts and $300 for labor.
Does this sound right for an old oil cooler and two hoses -- both superficially mounted and easy to get to?
If I go to a junkyard, can I get these parts off of any '91 126 body or does it have to be from a diesel?
I could do the work myself if anyone knows where I could find some cheap parts.
Thanks for your time,
Steve
