Personally, I prefer use a local rebuilder shop. (Search: Auto Electric, Electric Motor rewinders, Starter rebuilder/repair)
In my area, they are less expensive than the Mexican rebuilds from AutoZone plus they use higher quality components...and they are real, live, knowlegeable people that can discuss the issue with you!
Oh, they are a lot less expensive than a new part and so far, I have 7 years on my 1st generation rebuilt starter on the 240D...
