Horsepiss. It all depends upon the socialisation.

Along with many retrievers and pointers I've always had "Pits"and the whole damn key is proper early socialisation with other dogs.

I can tell you this though, all the pits I've had would not bite even my little finger,as opposed to my other hunting dogs who enjoyed gently knawing my hands and other parts.......in fact my "staffordshires" were the ones who would instinctively come to my aid when playfully attacked by my larger hunting dogs or when I had an attack of cardiosyncope they would lick my face in an attempt to revive me.

I have absolutely no compunction of letting my 8 year old daughter sleep with one in her bed.

I can truly say they combine high intelligence, loyalty and an intuitive bonding with humans, you introduce a stranger to them all well and good......if someone breaks a window and sticks their hand inside well, they just won't let go as happened once to my late mother, the cops used the finger and blood to trace the hapless break-in artist.

Now back to Josephine Baker singing La Petit Tonkinoise and T-Bone Walker singing Sister lollylou..............
