Back to the purpose of this thread,,,,,
After looking at Jags closely (and reading everything I could) for the past 6 months or so, I'd echo what others here said that the 1992+ 6 cylinder Jags have a reputation for reliability, compared to the older models at least.
Any Jag V12 is probably a crap-shoot,,,, some say they should be driven hard and often,,, some say they can't take a good thrashing,,, I'd lean towards the former. The XJS V12 was a direct evolution of the XKE V12 and was the platform on which the Aston Martin DB7 was based some 20 years later,,, you gotta admit,, that's kinda cool.
IMO the XJS V12's are somewhat underratted and under-valued right now,, but then again, I distinctly remember telling my wife: "A film with Leonardo DiCaprio about the Titanic? That'll totally bomb,, what kind of moron would go and see a movie like that!?"
I think the XJS Coupe is one of the best looking GT's ever built,,, especially the pre-facelift hardtops with the quad-headlights. You might also want to consider a 1996-97 XJR with the V6 Supercharged engine,,, tons of room and a real sleeper for the price.
