I live in Virginia, I purchased seeds of Bhut Jolokia from NMSU and just harvested my first red pepper 8/29/07. I took it to work where I have a couple of chile head buddies. We all ate some of the Bhut Jolokia. I ate several large pieces with the vein attached. I had to suppress my gag reflex at first, then my jaw got numb, then my legs got weak. I sat down and enjoyed one of the most pleasent HIGHS! I felt like I was going to halucinate. I wonder if I would have if I had eaten more. I will find out soon. I guess it was an endorphin HIGH! I had never experienced anything like it before and I eat habaneros and jalapenos on a regular basis.
