Oh well - wishful thinking on the curing the source of the antifreeze smell at the same time...

There doesn't appear to be any leaks at the radiator so I guess it must be at the transmission end. I'll report back later after I've crawled under the car - hope i can see the problem without having to pull off that drip pan.
