I have been experiencing some issues with my 1992 500E (see post http://500e.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5029) which we have traced to being possibly a bad or failing LH computer unit.

Since 500E's are not exactly a dime-a-dozen around here, I am trying to find out what other units might work.

I am aware that the '92 cars had two different units, one up till VIN 738851 and one after that VIN. Mine is the later one. I also know the 93 and up cars lost 7hp due to different fuel enrichment at WOT.

So, questions:

1) is the late '92 (post-VIN split) LH unit the same as the 93+ one, giving up the 7 hp?

2) Will all of the 500E LH units interchange, regardless of model year and the aforementioned VIN split (accepting the HP loss by using later unit)?

3) Will one from a 500SL/SEL/SEC work? If so, what year(s)?

4) If so, does the same fuel enrichment change apply to those other ones?

5) Does anyone have a unit for sale at less than an arm and 6 legs???
