I'm about to tackle the DIY odometer rebuild/cleaning and was wondering if anyone who has done this has set the odometer to approximately where it should be, if it can be guess-t-mated given the length of time it has been sluggish/not functioning and a rough idea of the mileage covered in that time is known. In my case, it currently reads 227,052 (and turns one mile every 50-60 actually travelled) but I feel I can safely estimate the actual reading to be in the neighborhood of 260,xxx.
