Oldest and well esablished princilpes yes. Inviolate? Of course not. If the Constitution is to be a "living, breathing document", shouldn't the Courts decisions be subject to it's own review and revision as circumstances warrant?

Justice Thomas's view that people opposed his nomination because he didn't think the way black people were supposed to think is just another manifestation of his arrogance. People didn't reject his views based on his race. They rejected his views because they didn't like his views.[/QUOTE]

I agree with that, but the cynic in me feels that race played a role in some of the opposition.
