1. Jolting upshift from 1-2 is normal, but there are a few things to check, starting with point 2

2. You may have a vacuum leak. You will need a mity vac to diagnose. Hard tranny shifting is also caused by lack or reduction of vacuum.

3. Check freon levels and check for compressor engagement. The '85 introduced the Klima relay in the A/C mix.

4. No quick checks really. Biggest culprit tends to be the CC Amp which is hidden by the driver side kick panel. It is a silver rectangular metal box mounted near the brake pedal.
