Yep, you're right. I always knew this kind of thing went on. Events in the last few days seemed to put a spotlight on it.
For some reason it seems to have gotten my interest. Why do people do this kind of thing? In looking through some of the cases of imposters it seems they fall into two types (common criminals who do it for money excepted); those that want to emulate the military and those that want to do damage to the military, and by that proxy the country.
In either case it's a character study in abberent psychology. Moreso the latter group and those that latch onto the imposter with willful suspension of doubt.
Anyway, it appears that there are many organizations that are trying to combat this kind of thing as well as some laws being proposed to stiffen the penalty for those who do it. Both good and worthwhile efforts, I think. I missed the ABC news story on the subject as well as Limbaugh's reporting of it before ABC news. I think the more people know about this kind of thing the better.
