I would want to inspect the bearing areas before going further. The lobes might polish up okay. The hard surface area on mercedes cams is thick enough to easily allow one good polishing. You do not have to make a decision now unless you need the cam.
Just coat with axel grease slide into a cardboard tube and put it away. Save and number all the cam followers to go with it though as you take apart and perhaps the bearing towers. I should start attending pak rats anyoamous. Its also a lifesaver. My wife cannot throw me out. Too much junk involved that would have to go with me.
