Tell me more about this camshaft timming variation. Did they have different cams for the different 617.95X engines? How to ID them? Doing what I would do in a Volvo 200/700/900, I looked on the back of the cam and the mark there is the same as my other head. But, that is all I know.
Do not worry about mixing the towers: I will probably punch some marks on them to ID them as which tower for which head (Say, A1, A2, A3 and B1, B2, B3). I do not trust my memory...
Leave the rust on it? How come?

What i mean is, on the cam lobes LIghtly go over it to get the rust off of it, but leave most of it intact. This rust will show you where the cam lobe is hitting the rocker arm It wont hurt anything but do get all the rust off of the cam bearings.
