LCD's, because of their plastic screens, don't show glare. Plasma's, with glass screens, can show a lot of glare. At eye level, the LCD's did not show any reflection from the bank of glass doors directly behind me. When I stooped to simulate what the plasma's would look like at eye level, the reflection of the glass doors was about the only thing you could see on the screens.

The differnence was so striking, I almost changed my thinking to head down the LCD path. My TV will go in the basement rec room. There is only window in the entire area and it has a curtain and can be completely covered. But I worry about room lighting showing up on the screen.

But then I went back to Sears and looked at the Hitachi plasma again for $749. I liked the picture. I'm going to get it.

Thanks for all the comments.
For me, the only big issue was reflection off the screen, since our room is mostly windows. The other, more minor issue was the look of the black shiny frame on some of the models. The guy at the store called it piano black, but I call it cheap shiny plastic. We are happy with the Bravia LCD.
