The pressure sensor operates the overboost protection solenoid on the firewall. It closes at a pressure of 15 psi and the overboost protection solenoid dumps all boost to the ALDA.

In reality, it's probably clogged with soot and won't close at any pressure, rendering the entire protection system useless.
