all fluids changed - now questions

Our 95 E320 has all new fluids and filters and brakes lines. The most recent was the transmission fluid.

The tranny fluid change invloved overfilling and redraining/ adding fluid. I did the drain, changed the filter and gasket (both squeaky clean with bright red old fluid), added 4 quarts of Valvoline Maxlife Dex/MercIII and another with the car running. Took the car for a mile drive and topped it off between the low and high of the 180* range. An hour later I took it for a 10 mile ride, rechecked and was WAY overfilled.

So I drained a quart and readded about 1/2 qt and it reads perfect.

-So question #1 is what goes wrong when the tranny is over-filled?

-The second question has been puzzling me since it started getting cooler <70*F in the morning. And <80*F in the afternoon... The anti-upshift. I cannot figure out if this is a problem or something I need to adjust to. In the morning it takes a full mile (engine temp up to 60*C) before it will shift up. Even in the afternoons when it is warm I leave the company parking lot and have to wait until the engine temp is reading ~60 before it will shift.

- Is this a problem or something I need to adapt to?

I am grateful for the knowledge shared here!
