Because O2 is a freaking accelerate (oxidizer). mix it with anything on the planet that's flammable and in a closed environment to boot, (cylinder, pipe bomb etc) and it will freaking explode !!!
Ever wonder why they don't like hydrogen peroxide on airplanes ??? 'cause it contains a lot of O2 with water as a carrier.
Why not just blow some black gunpowder down the air intake ??? You'll get the same effect.
