Pure O2 will work better than NOS in a diesel and there will be no risk of an explosion. It might kill your O2 sensor if you have one.
The reason is NOS has to be heated to a certain temperature before it disassociates and frees up its Oxygen for combustion. Injecting pure O2 will increase the burn rate of your fuel and start combustion a little sooner. Your burn rate will approximate your injectors fuel delivery better. You will also have more complete combustion.
end result is more power.
