I think the Japanese have done the most active research on this which makes sense--they have a whole lot of earthquakes. In my recollection, they could find no difference in the frequency of animal behavior correctly predicting vs incorrectly predicting earthquakes -- regardless of magnitude.

OTOH, there are several stories about herds of elephants heading to high ground well ahead of the awful tsunami that struck Thailand & Indonesia. I could imagine that elephant's ears, sensitive to low frequencies, combined with elephant brains might hear an approaching tsunami and freak-the-f**k-out (that's scientific terminology) and run uphill.
