After 'X' amount of years, what kind of crud do you think might be in the runners? I took the seats out of my 240D. The tracks wouldn't slide very well. I cleaned them out and put some of that spray on Wurth lubricant. They slide very well now. I haven't had them in the car yet though. I remember having the same problem as you when they were in the car.
