in East Hartford, Ct. What a freaking place! I was like a kid in a candystore, with no money

. I had a few hours free last night and we were down a kid thanks to a sleepover so the Mrs., the boys and I headed over to check it out. It actually opened on the 9th but the Grand Opening Celebration goes through Sunday.
At 185K sq.ft. it's on the larger end of the Cabela's stores (PA is 250K, DFW, TX is 230K, MI is 225K) and they've got everything hunting, fishing, camping, boating, tailgating related under one roof. Throw the massive taxidermy display, native critter display, native gamefish display, gun library and restaurant into the mix and you could easily kill a few hours.
Some of you have probably already been to one, but if there's one opening within an hour or so of you I'd highly recommend it if you're into outdoor sports! I'm as psyched about their marine section as anything else since I had to drive to Waterford (45 minutes away) for all of my boating stuff.
The Mrs. got a kick out of the signs on the front doors asking that all patrons check their firearms at the security desk for their shopping pleasure.
Between this store opening and the LL Bean opening in Manchester, CT I can wander around some of my favorite stores instead of just clicking through their site. If only there were an Orvis Flagship Store or Bass Pro Shops (although they are opening one up right next to the Patriots stadium in Foxborough, MA) in the works.
I ran into 3 landscaping customers from different towns, who all got jobs there part-time. Each one agrees that even after their employee discount it will end up costing them money to work there.
