You aren't going to believe this...my boyfriend took the ABS controller off by mistake. The part number is nearly identical to the cruise control amp, and it was the only unit in the location where the cc amp was supposed to be. It was mailed to the lab for rebuilding cc amps. Of course the lab went...what is this? when it arrived.....sigh. Upon closer look the 1st digits of the part number was off a bit between the two. In the mean time while the ABS Controller was making its was West via UPS, a major service...oil change, fuel injectors, trans flush, idler arm replaced, alignment and rotation, blah blah blah was done on my MB. Boyfriend drove the SEL to work today to 'check it out' before a 6 hour 'turkey day' drive across state tomorrow. The lab e-mailed today that a 'controller' not the cc AMP was in the shoe box I sent. As I type we are trying to find the 'real' cc AMP in the vehicle and cannot. It isn't where MB dealer says it is supposed to be, or anywhere visible. We are hoping it is under the battery casing, which is somewhat 'welded' down from age. It is only fair that you all get a good laugh at the do it yourself faux pax. We can all learn from each other.
Standard braking isn't as safe as the ABS design.
