I shot a couple of powder pellets without a bullet loaded last week and they went about twenty feed or less in the air--less impressive than a dud bottle rocket

But I agree that he could have fired a wadded shot AND used the powder to ignite a fire.
He's a dumbass imo for not orientating when he entered the woods and simply determining the compass once he decided he was lost and not heading from whence he came.
