C240 Serpentine tensioner question

I have a 2002 C240 with 60k miles and need to remove the drive belt in order to replace the alternator.

Since I do not have a shop manual and unclear of some of the posts that I read...please give me some directions.

1) location of the tensioner - looking at the engine from the front of the car. Is it on the left side of the power steering pump?

2) removal - From all the posting, I need a E10 torx male socket to turn it counter clockwise to release the tension and remove the belt. If I am looking at the right part from question #1, my confusion is that the tensioner where you insert the male torx bit has a metal piece in the middle. It is impossible to fit the torx piece into the tensioner. Is there a special tool required to do this job?

3) What torx socket size do need to remove the alternator?

3) Service indicator light - Can I reset it myself?

Thanks for all the help in advance.
