How do I remove the gears to access the disintegrating wirings? Only 1 small screw left where 1 plastic gear on its way. The screw driver when turn wearing the gear.

Also what chemical or how do I clean this engine where a gasket use to sit? Does the pic show a worn gasket was there before & result in some sort of leak?
