Extending the Life of Your Old Computer

Preserving old cars is OK, but computer equipment? I'm somewhat guilty, and nothing shows a computer's age more than trying to surf the web with all the Flash ads and Java programs that seem to come standard now. I wouldn't even call it surfing - it's more like slogging.

The Flash ads are incredibly annoying anyway, so I found a free download called Flashswitch. It installs in the system tray and lets you turn Macromedia Flash on and off. It only works for IE, and as far as I can tell, you have to download a new copy every 6 months.

Still, I turn off the Flash ads, and it turned my doggy old 400Mhz computer back into a little puppy!
