lalan, as I recall, the knob pulls directly off the front with a good jerk. There you will find a large thin nut holding the piece in place. You may need to remove the dash piece around the switch -- if so, it is straight-forward.
Your search here should hit a few threads because that is how I knew to do it to remove my cruise control amp a few years back.
