My 240D dropped a rod this morning

Well my pride and joy developed a serious problem this morning on the way to a job. I was going down the interstate cruiseing like I always do when I heard this loud whine and knock from the engine. I quickley pulled off onto an exit ramp, shut down the engine and coasted to the side of the exit ramp. Once stopped I cranked the engine back up and confirmed my diagnosis. I then called a friend of mine with a wrecker and had her towed home.
I now sit here and contemplating what course of action that I can take. Do I pull the engine and fix the rod and what ever else broke or do I swap this nice 300 turbo engine I have into the 240D body.I would want to keep the four speed manual I have in the car now but where will I get the Euro 5 cylinder flywheel I need to do this.

If any of you have any thoughts on my idea please let me know.
