Today, I was driving my 1997 Mercedes Benz E420 when I pulled out from a light and the ASR light came on and the fuel guage reserve started flashing. As this happened the car began to shift really hard. After a few blocks, I pulled over, turned the engine off and then back on and everything went back to normal.

Any idea what's going on here. It's the first time this has happened.
