Recently, my 300DT ignition switch stopped turning to the "start" position. It turns to the "accessory" position and the "on" position, but not the "start" position. I removed the ignition switch for inspection, found nothing wrong and replaced it. The ignition switch still would not turn to the start position and I needed to move the car to my house (the ignition switch failed away from home). So...I started it using a little trick I learned of right here :-) I turned the ignition switch to the "on" position and crossed the #1 and #3 terminals of the block on the right front inner fender. I moved the car to my house, but discovered that now it wouldn't shut off using the key. I had to stop it by depressing the "stop" lever on the injector pump.

Does anyone know if the vacuum valve on the ignition switch could have prevented the key from turning to the "on" position?
